Director Mobile Engineering in Hamburg
I graduated in computer science in 1995. After playing around with several programming languages, I fell in love with Ruby and was inspired by Ruby on Rails due to its simplicity and flexibility.
After several years working on various projects on a freelance basis, I joined XING in 2008, to assist in developing the platform. Just after six months I was put in charge of the Ruby on Rails team there. XING didn't have it's own mobile development team at that time. But in 2010 when the mobile business became traction I was responsible for putting it together. Since then it has grown from just 2 people to a 38-person-strong team. As XING's Director Mobile Engineering, I head the entire mobile engineering department that includes iOS, Android, Windows mobile and the mobile infrastructure team. I am also one of the key figures in charge of transforming XING into a mobile first company.
