Anthronique Ruffin
North Carolina Central University
In the Summer of 1992 Anthronique Ruffin entered into the world oblivious to the future struggles she would have and all the turmoil which would make her a stronger woman. As the oldest of three she was a born leader who was active throughout her matriculation of middle and high school. In 2006, her family made a life altering decision to move to Charlotte, NC. Relutant & scared she started over and made new friends and even decided to join a variety of clubs and organizations which weren't offered in Richmond, VA.
Graduating highschool with honors she decided to attend North Carolina Central University in the fall of 2010 to earn a degree in Biology. While meeting with one of her Chemistry professors, they asked her "Are you really sure you want to go into medicine?". She answered "No, Im doing whats expected of me." Years of over rated expectations clouded her judgement and she lost track of what her passions and dreams were to fulfill the dreams and plans others had for her life. The next semester after much thought and soul searching she decided to change her major and follow her passion....Production.
Although the pieces seemed to start to come together in her acaedmics and social life her family life took a hit that nearly ended her college career. Her father, the late Anthron, passed away in the beggining of her junior semester of college. The loss of her best friend was definitely a set back which caused her to lose focus and develop a pessimstic attitude towards everything in her life. After visiting her fathers final resting place during thanksgiving later that year she had an ephiany and used her fathers life to spark her excitement for education and her ultimate dream of becoming an executive producer. "I had to realize that I no longer lived for me...I live for him too".
Now striving for excellence in all her endeavors she has dedicated her life to following her dreams and plans to create a foundation to aid college students who have lost their parents. She often states..." my life was never promised to be easy....if it were easy we wouldnt appreciate the strength and growth that comes with trials".
