Ilze Šmate
Teacher and Director in Limbaži, Latvia
I am a school headmistress and an experienced educator from Latvia. I hold a Master of Science degree in Environmental Pedagogy, a fifth-level professional qualification, and a professional Master’s degree.
Throughout my career, I taught and I am qualified to teach biology, chemistry, ICT, social studies, and science. In 2023, I also obtained a qualification as a Design and Technology teacher.
Since 2016, I am a headmistress of Pāle Primary School, an educational institution of Limbaži County Municipality, where I also teach science and social studies. Previously, I was as the headmistress of Sērmūkši Primary School from 1998 to 2016.
I am actively involved as a coordinator in international education projects:
• eTwinning since 2008;
• Comenius from 2009 to 2013;
• Nordplus since 2010;
• Erasmus+ since 2014.
I am an eTwinning Ambassador since 2010, a Scientix Ambassador since 2013, and a Go-Lab Ambassador since 2016. My professional interests include science education, environmental education, digital learning, international cooperation, and school development.
