Imad Hanna is an expert in the pharmaceutical industry specializing in the field of drug metabolism and transport. Currently serving as Director of the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics Department at Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research, Imad is responsible for leading investigations aimed at determining the enzymes and transporters responsible for elimination from the body and trafficking across various cellular barriers.

With over 15 years of experience in the industry, Imad Hanna has enjoyed making a true difference in people’s lives. As a result of his department’s efforts, pharmaceutical companies are able to safely introduce new drugs to the market with manageable liabilities and side effects.

Working in the field of drug metabolism has been a natural fit for Dr. Hanna, as it combines two of his favorite disciplines: biology and chemistry. His path towards a career in the pharmaceutical industry began at Oakland University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Department of Chemistry. He later went on to attend Wayne State University, earning a Ph.D., from the Department of Pharmacology.
