George Crawford

Seattle, Washington, United States

Engineer, Photographer, Cyclist, USA Cycling Official, Woodworker, World Traveller, Cocktail Enthusiast ... Born, raised and educated in the hills of east Tennessee, now living life in the hills of western Washington. Culture shock? Nah. Well, maybe just a little.

As an engineer I spent nearly 20 years mostly supporting environmental clean-up efforts for various government and private-industry clients, along with a few other construction projects along the way. I've been able to work on a lot of very interesting projects, though I am now looking for a new engineering position here in the Seattle area (you know, just in case you are looking for someone ... or know someone who is, maybe).

As a photographer, I've concentrated mostly on the things that capture my mind's eye. I keep the use of Photoshop to a minimum, using it mostly to create multi-image panographic (no, panographic, not that other thing) experiments. For the most part, what you see is what I saw. For examples you can click on the Flickr link below or visit my 500px or FineArtAmerica (sales) pages.

As a cyclist I dabbled in racing in the '90s and again in the mid '00s, but my main passion has always been to just be out on the road or trail enjoying the scenery. I still keep my finger on the pulse of the racing scene as a USA Cycling race official, working at numerous racing events around the Pacific Northwest region.

Woodworking is a creative outlet I picked up because of my maternal grandfather. However, while he tended to create multiple copies of his own designs, I tend to make one-of-a-kind pieces built to serve a particular function or aesthetic.

Travel has always been a passion. My wife and I always enjoy going to new places (or returning to further explore places we've been before). We've been to most of the states, about half of the Canadian provinces, and eight foreign countries, with plans to visit a lot more.

And then, of course, is my heady burden of being the exclusive cocktail chef to a busy medical professional (my wife , of course) and several of her coworkers, responsible for reproducing old classics as well as creating new recipes (ask me about the "Iron Lady" sometime).
