Imani Erickson

My name is Imani Erickson and I am a Marketing major and Psychology minor in the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. I am a junior now and I feel that I have a good amount of experience for such a young career. I have worked in retail for four years in the past, have been an assistant in Human Resources, and most recently I have gained some Marketing experience as the Brand Ambassador for Zipcar on the Umass campus. I am an active member in the Marketing Club and sit on the executive board as the Social Media Director on ALPFA. I feel that with my activities and experiences that I have come to be a well-rounded college student. As for future plans, short term I would like to get an internship this upcoming summer and hopefully graduate college with a starting job. My main long term goal is to be the head of marketing at a company that I love. I want to be successful one day and I want to wake up excited to work because I love what I do.

My biggest passion I would say would be human rights and by this in particular I am most passionate about feminism, race equality and equality for LGBTQ people. I feel very strongly about these issues mostly because it is 2014 and while we have come a long way, there are still so many social injustices that occur in our world today and it pains me to see this. Everyone deserves the same treatment and opportunities and the fact that this is not the case is what keeps me motivated to change the world. I will continue to do what I can to spread awareness on social injustices while showing my support. I hope to one day be able to use these passions in my work someday.
