Imani Farrell
Philadelphia, Pa.
Background: I was born in Plainfield, New Jersey but raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania so I'm an outdoorsy city girl. I'm a sensitive, creative, and protective Cancer. My birthday is June 24th, 1997, right in the beginning of my favorite season. I am proud to call Philly my home because of its many characteristics, activities, opportunities, and diverse population. Broad Street a.k.a. Avenue of the Arts interests me the most. There is so much to do all around the city and living in every section every time my mom and I moved made me discover people's lifestyles.
Hobbies/Clubs: My favorite activities are cultural dance and volleyball. I’ve completed academic programs geared towards leadership, test prep, and college in general. In school I participate in concerts and event planning. I’m a member the step squad, volleyball team, and my community Afro-Cuban Dance Company. Based on opinions of my teachers I’m a great writer and an awesome math student. I’m a shy singer and public speaker; I usually get comfortable with my audience once I realize that backing-out is not an option.
Education: I attended two very different elementary schools. The first was an Afrocentric institute that primarily focused on ancient history and the African Diaspora. I transferred out and into a predominately Asian but multicultural school that challenged me more. After middle school, I got accepted to the Academy at Palumbo magnet high school. Here, I fell in love with the students and staff who welcomed me and introduced me to new ideas and traditions.
Future: I’ve decided to take advantage of the many offered benefits in the United States Navy. I want to share and utilize my various talents while making a positive impact philosophically on the world. I love to travel and being near the water. After getting my college education, I’ll be ready to begin service. I also look forward to being part of a team whose mission is associated with making a difference.
