With over 20 years of experience in tutoring and teaching, I take a comprehensive approach to learning. I believe that helping students make smart connections between the material they learn in school, at home and in real life will lead to better understanding and greater intellectual satisfaction. I offer patience, compassion and flexibility, creating a respectful and nurturing learning environment that allows a student’s natural sense of intellectual curiosity to flourish.

My tutoring philosophy centers on the intellectual and emotional well-being of the individual, rather than scores and percentages. I focus on not only curricula and homework problems, but also address learning styles, habits and challenges that are unique to each individual. My approach has led to increased motivation, confidence and attentiveness, translating to educational success and improved grades for my students.

I serve all students, from elementary age to college students. I have particular expertise and experience with several populations:

Students who are smart but under-performing; who are bored, careless and apathetic in regards to learning. These students may show signs of anxiety, depression or other behavioral issues stemming from a lack of appropriate intellectual challenge.

Students who are highly gifted, twice-exceptional (2E), or have medical conditions that requires a specialized learning path.

I work with the student, parent and school to establish a educational plan that incorporates the individual intellectual, social, and emotional needs of the student.
