Imelda Taruvinga

Hi,Imelda Taruvinga a 28-year old young woman currently a second year student undertaking an honours degree in Information Science at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST)in Zimbabwe.Imelda is passionate about the role of adolescent girls and young women as well as youth empowerment and development.I have served as a volunteer for over six years for organizations such as Plan International Zimbabwe, Matebeland Aids Council of Zimbabwe, National Aids Council of Zimbabwe, Ulusibaarts Project, Amnesty International,Contemporary Foundation,Younglife Zimbabwe, Community Working Group On Health.Miss Taruvinga has also participated in youth expos, girls symposiums and youth exhibitions.She is currently working closely with Plan International Zimbabwe as Girls mentor under the Social Norms project being implemented by Plan which is targeted at addressing issues of gender equality.She has previously worked as a Female Coach for GrassRootSoccer Zimbabwe which is an organization that uses the power of soccer to inspire, mobilize and educate young people.Imelda has also worked at Dot Youth Zimbabwe as a Volunteer Intern.She is also a trained Adolescent girls empowerment program Facilitator.She has managed to gain digital story telling skills and is working towards using these skills to building a social movement on ending child marriages and teen pregnancies in Africa .She was part of ulusibaarts project an organization that uses the power of art to educate young people on HIV related issues.Every month she volunteers with Feed the City,Zimbabwe an organization that feeds disadvantaged families in communities around Bulawayo and throughout Zimbabwe.She is an advisor, Lifeskills consultant, Asrh Facilitator, and a peer counsellor, life Coach and a social change activist.
