Gary Jines
Stockton, CA.
Born in Tennesse, but I was headed to the water at a very early age. Got my first set of snorkeling and scuba gear from Sears and Roebuck in Clarksville, TN. Taught myself how to Scuba in the early 1970's. Got my first scuba certification at Ft. Devons, MA, in 1977 with PADI, then continued on advanced training with both PADI and NAUI. After the service, I attended The Ocean Corporation in Houston Texas and worked in the Gulf of Mexico for about 8 years. Attended the PADI GOLD COLLEGE program in 1984. Currently I am a Master Scuba Diver Trainer with PADI. My certifications and training are with PADI, SSI, NAUI, ANDI, IANTD.
My experience in diving has been quite varied in my career. I've been a public safety diver with Eldorado Sherriffs Dept in the early 1990's. Involved in many Search and Recovery dives with various Fire and Law enforcement agencies in Central California and continue to so today. I've been the general manager of Dolphin Scuba Center in Sacramento from 1989 to 1995 and part owner of Scuba Plus in Stockton, Ca. from 1998 to 2005.
Currently I am in service with Aqua Video out of Fair Oaks, CA.
My passion in diving is teaching others to enjoy the sport as much as I have. I love seafood, so I do a lot of spearfishing and free diving for abalone. I love the coastal sites offered here in California. Yes, I love warm water diving as well. I guess my favorite destination for diving has been the Philippines. So many Islands and sites to explore.
