Uchenna Imo
Evaluator, Researcher, and Youth Advocate in Nigeria
I am a dedicated youth advocate passionate about addressing critical issues affecting adolescents and young people (AYPs), particularly in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and drug use. Driven by a belief in inclusivity and fairness, I strive to empower individuals to avoid life-threatening actions, discover their best selves, and lead meaningful lives.
As a graduate of Public Health from the University of Calabar, Nigeria, I have channeled my education into impactful youth-focused social projects. My professional journey is marked by a commitment to monitoring and evaluation (M&E), essential for assessing the effectiveness of these projects. As an early career researcher, I have published papers on public health system management since 2020.
Since 2019, my leadership and volunteer experience reflect my dedication to social change. I have played pivotal roles in national projects and grassroots organization activities, consistently driving positive outcomes. Notably, in 2021, as an Advocacy Team Member for the Cross River State Sustaining Evidence Driven Advocacy (SEDA) project by the International Youth Alliance for Family Planning (IYAFP), I contributed to creating a youth-friendly SRHR Policy document for the state.
Furthering my impact, I served as the monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) lead for the Network of Youth for Sustainable Initiative (Nigeria Youth SDGs Network). Between 2021 and 2022, I played crucial M&E roles in three nationwide projects, ensuring their effective implementation and goal achievement. My leadership was also evident during my tenure as President of the Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) at the University of Calabar, where I advocated for sensible and informed drug policies among students.
Currently, I am advancing my career by integrating public health data analytics with my M&E expertise. I am actively building my capabilities to become a resourceful evaluator within the international development and Nigerian social change sectors. My aspirations center on leveraging data-driven insights to enhance social impact projects and contribute to a fairer, more inclusive world for young people.
