Iain Patrick Munro

Cambridge & Edinburgh

Having achieved relevant qualifications I have pursued a career in the catering industry. Very early in my career I was promoted to management status in a highly regarded, privately owned London West-End Hotel. I progressed through a number of key managerial posts within 4 & 5 star hotels, having specific responsibility for the Food and Beverage service operations within the Restaurant and Banqueting departments. My responsibilities included recruitment, supervision, training, development and discipline of my staff ensuring that customer service was maintained to the highest standards. After nearly 10 years in the Hotel industry I moved to a sales career utilising the wealth of experience gained during my time in Hotels. Since taking up my first Area Sales Manager’s position over 20 years ago I have established a role within the catering supply industry that is recognised by my peers. I was appointed by the CEDA membership to the post of Vice Chairman of the Catering Equipment Distributors Association in 2007 (re-appointed in 2009 having had to resign due to Scobie & McIntosh going into Administration, which was caused due to the banking world collapse) and in April 2011 I was elected Chairman. The experience I have gained is varied and wide ranging, involving sales, marketing, design, procurement, financial management, project management, including all aspects of site co-ordination and liaison and “Blue Chip” account development and management. This experience has been further developed since being involved in 2 management buyouts of Scobie & McIntosh (Catering Equipment) Ltd. I have gained experience in all aspects of running a business, as a Director in one of the industry’s oldest and largest privately owned catering equipment distributors in the UK, and I can demonstrate I have directly influenced the increase of sales revenue and market penetration.
