The purpose of a bondsman is to help cover the fee being required before your loved one can bereleasedfromjail.Inexchange,you post collateral, usually something of value such as property or an automobile, that ensures thedefendant will appear incourt. If the defendant does not appear on his scheduled court date to face charges, the property will then be seized and awarrant issued for the defendant's re-arrest.
