Ingolfur Bjarni Sigfusson is an award-winning multilingual journalist who has achored, reported and produced for RÚV, Iceland‘s National TV and Radio.

Currently, he is editor of Kveikur, RÚV‘s investigative television series, which was awarded the price as best news and current affairs program at the 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 Edda Film and TV Awards as well as the Program of the Year in 2019.

Sigfusson was nominated in 2018 and 2022 to the Press Awards for his reporting, and received the prize in 2015 for reporting on the refugee crisis from around the world.

Sigfusson has reported from the scene of major events in Iceland and around the world, from earthquakes in Iceland to the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, elections in the US to terror attacks in Norway and the war in Ukraine.

He was one of the anchors on RUV‘s nightly news for years, has hosted election specials and anchored breaking news events for hours on end.

Prior to reporting for Kveikur, Sigfusson served for years as RUV‘s Head of Online and New Media, building an online team from scratch and setting out an ambitious plan to move the legacy broadcaster into the world of new media.

Before that posting, he was deputy head of news and in charge of RUV‘s international coverage, building a small network of VJs in major international news hubs.
