Lynne Schifreen, RN, MSN, FNP, CPHQ
Lee's Summit, Missouri
I was born and rasied on Long Island and went to college in upstate NY. After graduation, while I was home sick with mono, I realized that I wanted to become a nurse practitioner. I entered the FNP program at Pace University and in 2 years, 8 weeks I had my eligibility to take the RN boards, the ANA FNP certification test and the Physician's Assistant's test. WIth no nursing experience outside of school my job prospects were dim in NY, so I picked up and moved to Kansas City Missouri to be a family nurse practitioner in a staff model HMO called Prime Health. This HMO was eventually purchased by Humana, and I moved from FNP to Medical Center Manager, to Quality Director to UM and Disease Management, to Pharmacy Management to Humana Cares Complex Chronic Care management program.
I am divorced and have a wonderful stepson (my Pelt) who is an MP in the Army, He is married to his high school best friend Jenny and they have an adorable daughter Chloe. Tim has been stationed overseases in Iraq and Afghanistan, and will be moving into a garrison MP role at West Point in May of this year.
I work from home and my six cats help to keep me from getting lonely. My kitties range from 5 -18 years old. The young ones give the older ones vitality; the old ones offer leadership to the younger ones. My cat family consists of Precious and Primo, Mew2, Minky, Oscar and Bailey. I love all of them equally, except Mew2 who I love more because he sleeps on my head every night with his face against mine!
