Happy Campers
Friends for over twenty years, we were first brought together via an interest in medieval history. Exploring castles and battlefields has expanded to visiting anywhere together, especially if the trip ends with tea and cake.
We have had an annual adventure for the last four years attending Port Eliot Festival, the perfect venue to indulge our love of books, food, old houses, music and films. Dovegreyreader gave us a job reporting on the parts of PortEliotFest she couldn't reach and we set to this task with lots of enthusiasm. Tents are not necessarily a love, but we forced ourselves to join the community under canvas to experience this wonderful festival at its fullest. We became known as The Happy Campers and it seems to have stuck!
We started this blog to share our views of books we have read and loved. We have no connections to any publishers or authors and our opinions about books will probably not conform to any conventional review blueprint. We will try to post regularly. Although we both find it is sometimes easier to write a report of a book we disliked, we will not do that as just because we didn't like a book doesn't mean it's not someone else's favourite! Our tastes in books are often similar, but not identical, so if we have differing opinions on something, we will share both points of view. Otherwise, our aim is to tell you about books that we liked and want to encourage others to read. We hope you will feel inspired to read something you wouldn't normally choose.
Here is a short profile of each of us. Thanks for reading.
Happy Camper A:
Now I have plenty of time to read, but my other interests- running, horse riding, mountain biking, experimental cookery, gardening and home improvements keep getting in the way! A background in education has also given me a love of children's books. I have two very naughty hairy-bellied tabby cats and live with DIY Man.

I share my life with 4- Bicycles Man and leave the energetic, outdoorsy stuff to him while I concentrate on the more cerebral side. My book reading has to be fitted in around my work as a secretary, as do my various craft hobbies, the latest one being needle-felting. However, a change is in store next May when my office closes and I will treat myself to a bit of "me " time before looking for another job. I don't read much non -fiction, but love to immerse myself in a good novel.
