Insung Lee
Student, Teacher, and Musician in Philippines
“I love music!” This is what I told my parents and my friends since when I was really young. I was raised in a environment where I could stay close to music. My parents let me have piano lesson since I was 5 years old, and violin at 7 years old. Since then, my love to music started. In Korea, I went to some concours and also played in church where I was able to practice consistently and enhance my skills.
At the age of 11, I came to the Philippines and started living here as a foreigner. My parents were missionaries in the Philippines which made my life here harsh to myself. I was not able to speak English back then and this gave me really hard time adjusting to life in the Philippines. But eventually, time has passed and now I am fluent in English which also lead me studying and working in the Philippines.
I am now a student in University of Santo Tomas majoring in Bachelors of music performance in violin. And also, having lessons as a teacher to both Filipino and Korean. In addition to this, I am a worship leader in a Korean church where I also have disciple programs where I teach younger students how to become a worship leader. These are all done with my love to music.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said that “Music is the universal language of mankind.” I really believe in this quote since I am already experiencing that in a foreign country and also I am confident that I can teach even I am not native language speaker. So I am here to help anyone who want to experience other culture and teaching style of music. I can be the one to help.
