Levels of Integration
The collaboration entry and transformation level language arts activities are similar in that they both use technology to support and enhance the curriculum. They vary in levels of interaction between the students and technology, and how they support collaboration.
Collaboration Entry Level Language Arts
• Students read article about mummies individually
• They viewed images on a screen- did not personally interact with the technology
• They did not collaborate with each other, rather participated in discussion led by the teacher
• Asked questions of the teacher, not their peers
• Technology is not easily accessible
Collaboration Transformation Level Language Arts
• Students create their own videos showing spelling patterns
• Students directly interact with technology- 8th graders use video cameras and computers to create videos, 1st graders are actors in the video
o Filming and editing
• Collaboration is evident- students interact primarily with each other- within and across grade levels
• Project is something students can revisit and watch to review spelling patterns
• Entire activity is rooted in technology
Assessment of my own lesson plan:

Environment: Collaboration, Level: Adaptation

Create a News Broadcast in the form of a podcast, using Podomatic.com
Conduct hurricane research using the computer
Students are directed to explore a specific technological tool
Students are using the technology to collaborate and understand the concept of hurricane preparedness.
Technology is needed to complete the activity
