In today’s world it is impossible not to see that technology has become a major part of our lives. Students are constantly uploading their webpages, downloading the latest apps, and staying connected to their friends and family through e-mail, texting, social media and face time. With all of these great opportunities in front of us, it’s easy to get lost trying to find the right answers. So many teachers are trying to put all of their energy into staying on top of all of the latest crazes and phases. While we can’t wait to see what comes out next, teachers need to take a step back and build a structured plan first, that allows technology to fall into the curriculum and not just force it in. Intelligent Curriculum will not only help you plan out this process, but also help you see the bigger picture of connecting social media in education.
Whether you are a fan or not of using today’s technology opportunities, none of these tools can be used properly if you don’t have the core curriculum and solid program structure in place. Over the last ten years, we have completely rebuilt the Visual Communications program (my class) to work with the “Intelligent Curriculum Model”, but no matter how high tech you may be, you still have to start with a plan.
This website will help you either start from scratch or help make the connection between what you may already be doing to a much bigger picture. The Intelligent Curriculum Model will be one that is constantly growing every day, so make sure you check back in to see what’s new with connecting social media and education.
