The vacation is both old Roman history and a Christian that is certainly very mysterious. The first Valentine's day could be traced right back to the Catholic Church which started a feast day, considered honoring its patron saint named Valentinus or Valentine.

One of the hottest stories takes place during the 3rd century in Rome. The ruling Emperor Claudius II had decided single men made better soldiers, and outlawed marriage so he can develop a better crop of soldiers. A young priest by-the name of Valentine defied the decree, and continued to marry young lovers in secret, and h-e ordered that Valentine be put to death when Claudius discovered this.
Tale does credit Valentine with actually sending the very first valentine. The story claims he had fallen in love with a young women, who had been visiting him while he was in jail.
