After completing a high school project about Gordon Parks, Kristina Thomas became interested in photography, and soon found being behind the film camera was more her speed. Filmmaking for Kristina began at Howard University under the mentorship of professor Haile Gerima, director of “Sankofa”. She started showing her potential in the documentary side of filmmaking by winning awards that led her to an opportunity to direct a television pilot in New Orleans, Louisiana. The pilot centered around three young people, between the ages of 19-24, making a difference to help rebuild New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. She attended USC’s school of Cinematic Arts where she blossomed as a writer and director. Since then, she has tackled different issues in cinema such as injustice in the LGBT community, racism, and homelessness on the streets of Los Angeles. Freelancing as a creative director and editor, Kristina keeps busy helping projects of all kinds. catch her latest projects on: http://introducexstina.tumblr.com/.
