About me and the blog

Michał Szafrański Hey - I'm Michał. I am a husband, a dad of two children and a full-time guy in his 40s. Since August 1, 2013, I only live off blogging and savings (more on this in the podcast "I'm quitting my job for blogging"). I live in an apartment in Warsaw and referring to the topic of the blog - I like to have enough cash on my accounts to sleep well. And at the same time I am trying to financially secure our family and the future. Fortunately, thanks to blogging, self-publishing of the book "The Financial Ninja" and investing surpluses, I was able to secure my family's future financially. For several years I have been "financially free", which means that my investments generate more income than I need to cover the cost of living, and as a result I do not have to do paid work (although I still do it because I like it). Read more about my path to financial freedom here.

I have one deviation that I have learned to live with - for over 20 years I have been scrupulously writing down all expenses and income. Thanks to this, I know everything about them. Insurance agents have had their jaws dropped more than once when I have verified their forecasts by providing them with detailed data, for example, how much money my children have “eaten” (total amount of expenses on diapers), or how much exactly beer has cost me over several years. This cost awareness is painful at times. But thanks to it, I can plan my activities carefully, reduce costs reasonably (not everything is worth doing), and plan investments - also those in my own well-being (I recommend reading the article on how I justified the purchase of a Mustang before myself). 🙂

Why is this blog worth reading?

If you've ever asked yourself questions:

Is it worth saving?

Is it better to count on myself or on the fact that I will live to a decent retirement?

How to save?

What costs me the most?

How to get out of a difficult financial situation?

How to plan your home budget and periodic larger expenses?

What to change in the way you spend money so as not to worsen the quality of life and reduce expenses at the same time?

How much does electricity, water, car and other fixed fees really cost?

How to make the biggest purchases in your life (apartment, car) and at the same time not overpay?

Where - apart from working full-time - from where to get extra money?
