Pippa Jazmine Dyer Resume: Writer – Actor – Publisher – Director

Collectively, P. J. Dyer has gained experience of over 40 years in the Media and Performance Arts arena with Stage, Film, Radio, and Television. She has Written and Produced two stage-shows, (Mixed Blood, 1984; & The Voice Beyond The Veil, 2005, 6, 7) been a Theatre Practitioner, Film Practitioner and Publisher – always in the craft of storytelling.

At UCT, when reading for her BA, was noted by J. M. Coetzee (her tutor) as a writer with talent. Later at the Mail and Guardian, Comrade Don Matera viewed her work and recognized that the start of any great talent was with poetry … (she started writing at 10 yrs old). Later still, reading for Psychology at University of KwaZulu Natal was recognized as a shining talent.

Dyer studyied Performance Art at UCT, performed onstage cabarets and jazz 'n blues writing her own lyrics until being absorbed into the film arena at Toron (now Endemol), became a Marketing and Advertising Consultant at the Mail and Guardian, befriended SA hero's, the Bang Bang photographers, married accross the color line when it was still illegal to do so, enriching her diversity profile, which would change the trajectory of her life forever.

10 years post-liberation she was co-owner of STE Publishers, producing social and political history. She also edited an esoteric novel, assisted Dept of Education resource packs; disseminated information through The Educator’s Voice to 250,000 SADTU teachers (SA Democratic Teachers Union); and assisted in the publishing of several other works. She was privileged enough to have met authors, collected their blessings, letters of support and mentally earmarked productions for potential Screenplays. All material she intends to produce, and that is still the case.

Dyer left STE in 2003, has written several film scripts, attended Film Writing courses (Hal Croasmun, Script For Sale; Script Institute; Spark; part-Masters NFVF), written Assessment Reports and Edited for UKZN Press (University KwaZulu Natal); taught at AFDA Film school of Motion Picture and Live Performance in Screenwriting; and have recently just published her first Film Training Manual: Strike Up! Structure Your First Film.
