Ira Gumberg

As president and CEO of the J.J. Gumberg Co., Ira Gumberg builds upon an outstanding family legacy of accomplishment in commercial real estate, with more than 15 million square feet of retail space acquired or developed during his tenure. Ira Gumberg has grown the Pittsburgh-based business into one of the nation’s premier retail development firms by opening highly profitable shopping malls and other key properties in fertile American markets. In addition, Mr. Gumberg recently expanded the company to India, where he and his colleagues fulfill the emerging economy’s demand for retail shopping centers.

Notable for his philanthropy as well, Ira Gumberg supports several leading educational institutions, including the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, and Georgetown University, through the Ira J. Gumberg Family Foundation. Earlier in his career, he chaired the Compensation and Audit Committees of the Mellon Financial Corporation and served as a member of the Executive Committee. He earned a BA in economics from the University of Pittsburgh.
