Brian Fleming
Brian Fleming is a traditional percussionist. He has recorded on over 30 albums and played or recorded with many of Irelands best-known musicians, including Davy Spillane, Emer Mayock, The Chieftans, Cormac Breathnach, Jack L, Julie Feeney, Anuna, Michael Flatly and Kila. He has performed extensively in Europe, Asia, Africa and America and is respected equally in the music world as a teacher, performer and producer.
He has been a pioneering exponent of the West African djembe drum in Ireland since the 1990s and travels regularly to Africa, where the legendary Mamady Keita is his teacher. Brian is co director of the Big Bang Festival of Rhythm (Dublin, 2007 –'11). He has worked extensively in theatre, including The Abbey Theatre, and with Donal O Kelly and Els Comediants. His first one-man show 'Gis a Shot of Your Bongos Mister' was a sell out at Absolut Fringe, Dublin 2011.
Brian is credited in the Guinness Book of World Records 2001 as one of the creator of the Millennium Drum, the world's largest drum.
