My talk is filled with stories, songs and phtotos recounting the rich social the cultural heritage of the fishing families and communties from SE Scotland and Northumbeland across the period 1870 to 1920, the boom years of the Herring Fishing Industry.

It tells it from the viewpoint of the women and families. The powerpoint now has over 150 contemporary photos, as well as many unique family photos - such as this one of me and Gran in our fishwives clothes standing at Fisherrow Harbour at the end of the Fishermens Walk, circa September 1961.

My roots are in the Fisherrow Fishing Community, traceable back to the 1600's. Tales and stories that have have been passed down through the family.
