Irith Williams

Human-Centred Designer in Melbourne, Australia

I am a Human-Centred Researcher, Strategist and Designer. Lately, I've worked with higher education students using assistive technology: exploring their experiences and delivering empathy building workshops for designers, developers and teachers.
In recent years I've worked at www.rightship.com, a maritime safety index platform, and at PERSUIT, a legal-tech startup taking over the world of procurement for legal operations. My role included business and product strategy and experience design, user research, interaction design, content strategy and ux writing.

I earned my MInfTech working on theHealthMap Study at the Alfred Hospital. An interactive chronic disease management plan for people with HIV to manage their cardiovascular disease risk factors.

I published a paper on creating Design Personas with health researchers and presented on designing for health at UX Australia Service Design (Canberra) 2016.

Founder and manager of the 400+ 'Designing for Health in Australia' LinkedIn Group. We have recently migrated to our Designing for Health Slack workspace.

I specialise in Human-Centred Design for complex socio-technical systems including diverse abilities and cultures and love facilitating the creativity of cross-functional teams.

My experience design journey began as a specialist educational production editor. I cut my teeth working on textbooks, ranging from primary school years to academic monographs. I edited manuscripts, commissioned type specifications, design specifications, and illustrations, and I briefed typesetters for pre-press production.

This has grounded my strong affinity for UI design, content strategy and the technical constraints of content delivery.

I am a compulsive networker and sometime facilitator/event manager for @uxmelbourne.
