Irmgard Tackie, MD FAAP
Fontana, California, United States
I grew up in the coastal town of Teshie-Nungua in Accra, Ghana. As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a physician, well except for a brief period when Indiana Jones was my hero and I thought archeology was just the thing for me.
I graduated in 2005 from The University of Ghana Medical School and was awarded the Harry Sawyerr Prize for Best Student in Child Health and Best Overall Student by the Ghana Medical Association.
I went on to work for a couple of years before joining the residency program at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan. I have fond memories of my years in residency and had the privilege of being Pediatric Chief Resident in my final year. At Hurley, I was awarded the Amithabha Banerjee Award for Leadership in Outstanding Clinical Skills, Professional Behavior and Commitment to Lifelong Learning.
Throughout my residency years, I took every opportunity to spend as many weekends with my family in San Diego and was thrilled to be able to do a rotation in pediatric dermatology at Rady Children's Hospital.
I am Board Certified in Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. I serve on the Continuing Medical Education Committee and the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Committee of Community Hospital of San Bernardino.
These last few years, I have had the privilege of working with the children of the Inland Empire. My dream of offering exceptional family centered comprehensive pediatric care is the reason for opening Goldstar Pediatrics in Fontana.
When I am not making beaded jewelry, reading crime fiction or cooking, I enjoy spending time with my husband and young son.
