Iron Rose
I'm the Iron Rose. I’m a Registered Massage Therapist, newbie power lifter, local whole foods eater and strength-obsessed wonder lady. This is my world, and this is my journey.
I like to lift heavy things for fun and for fitness. I like to cook and eat local, whole foods. I come from a farm, where my parents raise grass-fed beef. I like to read about all things power lifting, food and fitness. I work with muscles all day, and have a knack and awareness for deep tissue work. I’m sometimes referred to as the “terminator” or the one with the “steel arms” at work.
The Iron Rose is a bit of an oxymoron, an extreme contrast if you will. The rose is a symbol of utter femininity, beauty and love. It is delicate, soft and fleeting. Iron however, is vastly opposite. It is dense, cold, barren. It has been used to wage and win wars, and to create structures that stand the test of time. Together, the soft, feminine beauty of the rose meets the eternal, everlasting strength of iron which is an analogy for my journey into this realm.
Join me on my journey, my quest to delve into the depths of food and nutrition, my urge to correct “big food” and advocate on behalf of local, whole foods and farms, my experimentations within my practice and knowledge of muscle function and anatomy, my triumphs and tribulations with lifting and fitness, and finally my muscle mending concoctions and potions. A world of muscle.
