As a public interest advocate and columnist, Irũngũ Houghton speaks truth to power. He is associated with bold achievements in fighting corruption, civic space and public school land protection across Kenya.

His work with colleagues at the Society for International Development (2013-2017) and Oxfam (2003-2013) has received several awards from New African Magazine, Nation Media Group, Architectural Association of Kenya, Oxfam International, the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) and the African Union for service to Kenya and the continent of Africa.

In 2017, he was cited among Africa’s top 100 influencers and Kenya’s top 10 communicators.

He also voluntarily serves on the Boards of Equality Nowand ActionAidUSA. He also chairs the Kilimani Project Foundation, a community based organisation committed to urban inclusiveness and active citizenship.
