The recipient of a bachelor's degree in social sciences from Cheyney University, Dr. Isaac Ashley Young has since earned a master’s degree in student personnel services from Rowan University, an MBA from Temple University, and a doctorate in innovation and leadership from Wilmington University. Dr. Isaac Ashley Young began his career as a director of community affairs with the City of Salem in New Jersey, where he managed a $2.8 million grant program and held other leadership roles, as grant writer and administrator in collaboration with the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, and alternate deputy registrar. He later worked briefly as a middle school teacher before joining the Salem County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
During five years as department head of the New Jersey-based organization, Dr. Young presided over the Salem County Mental Health Board and managed a $875,000 juvenile detention budget on behalf U.S. Juvenile Justice Commission. Concurrently, he worked as a grant consultant with the City of Salem and, from 2008 to 2013, served as executive director of the Salem City Housing Authority for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Since 2013, Dr. Isaac Ashley Young has worked as an employment counselor for the nonprofit organization Mid-Atlantic States Career and Education Center, where he counsels more than 15,000 ex-offenders in finding and retaining full-time employment.
