A recent high school graduate, Isabel Harris Eide began her freshman year of college in September 2015. She attends the University of Miami, where she majors in psychology. During her final year of high school, she took such classes as an English course on gender and sexuality, through which she discovered her favorite book, Goodbye, Columbus, by the novelist Philip Roth. Beyond her classwork, Isabel Harris Eide spent her senior year volunteering with the hunger relief charity City Harvest and helped distribute free food at open markets that serve the residents of underprivileged communities.

Over her last several summer breaks, Isabel Harris Eide has traveled with youth groups to domestic and international destinations, including locales in Hawaii, Canada, and Mexico. She also traveled to Florence, Italy, where she studied art history and took culinary courses in the authentic preparation of Italian cuisine staples such as pasta and cannoli. Most recently, she went on a multi-country tour of Southeast Asia that covered Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos. While in Thailand, she worked for two weeks at a local orphanage. She read to and provided English instruction for the children as well as participated in the construction of a new preschool building.
