Ever since I was a child I knew I was going to become a teacher. I have a strong enthusiasm for helping others and have a deep belief that by educating the youth I am helping shape the future. History and Politics are two passions my family has raised me with. I knew the dates of World War I by the time I was seven and my year six Australian Heroes project was on Gough Whitlam. I have acquired vast knowledge of both areas of study as I firstly completed an undergraduate double Major in Modern History, Politics and International Studies believing it was an efficient way of gaining a vast array of knowledge concerning the two fields of study. I then went on to study a Diploma of Education.

I would love to be employed by Christmas Island District High School as the Studies of Society and Environment teacher as I know the school well and the community. I was raised on Christmas Island and graduated from the only school there. I understand the diversity in cultures, languages and students needs well as I have also been an Education Assistant at the school.

One of my greatest strengths is my written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. I have completed my Western Australian Certificate of Education and gained entrance to university illustrating my sound written skills. In previous employment I have been tasked with varied writing responsibilities such as constructing emails, lesson plans, newsletter articles and general letters. As a current university student I am required to produce texts with different structures including reports, essays and journalism articles. I am confident interacting with others verbally and am good at public speaker, illustrated by my winning of the Heywire Competition in 2013, my, opening speech at the Australian War Graves Commission Sandakan ANZAC Ceremony in 2012 and my role as Head Girl at CIDHS. I am able to hold a conversation with individuals of various ages, ethnicities, diverse language backgrounds and occupational positions. As an Education Assistant at Christmas Island District High School I was engaged with students from English Second Language backgrounds, primarily Asylum Seekers aged between five and 12. As well as engaging with the children, I was also exposed to communicating with colleagues from different disciplines and levels of teaching. I am an approachable person who takes a lot of time to listen and assist people with their problems.
