İsa Hatipoğlu earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Erciyes University, Turkey, in 2012. He then pursued graduate studies in the United States, earning an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2016 and a second M.Sc. in Optics from CREOL, the College of Optics and Photonics at the University of Central Florida in 2019. In December 2021, he completed his Ph.D. in Optics and Photonics from CREOL.

İsa is currently an assistant professor at Gazi University in Ankara, Turkey, where he serves in the Department of Photonics and holds key leadership roles as Vice Department Head of Photonics and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences. His research focuses on wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconductor materials, particularly Ga2O3-based alloys, for ultraviolet (UV) photodetector applications, which are essential for high-power and high-temperature environments.

With expertise in thin-film growth using plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) and cleanroom fabrication techniques, İsa has contributed to the development of advanced optoelectronic devices, including photodetectors and semiconductor lasers. His work involves a range of characterization techniques, such as XRD, CL Hyperspectral Imaging, XPS, and AFM, to optimize material properties and improve device performance.

In addition to his research, İsa teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, including Photonics Lab 1, Programming and Modelling in Photonics, Lasers and Photonics, Electronic Circuits, Infrared Optics, and Applied Photonics. His teaching focuses on providing students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for careers in photonics and semiconductor industries.

Through his multidisciplinary research and leadership roles, İsa continues to drive innovations in photonic devices, bridging the gap between semiconductor materials research and real-world applications in areas such as telecommunications, environmental monitoring, and defense technologies.
