Islam Elfiky has built a career that brings together entrepreneurship, healthcare, athletics, and hospitality. Based in New York, he works as a business developer, creating ventures that support practical needs. His path began with a strong squash career and later expanded into pharmacy technology, service-based business, and family-connected healthcare work in Egypt.
His main focus since 2020 has been MedsNow, where he serves as Co-Founder and Head of Business Development. The company was created to help independent pharmacies enter the digital economy with tools that support online sales, compliance, payments, and patient management. Through the platform, pharmacies can onboard patients, send invoices, accept payments, and manage receivables with clearer analytics. The goal is to give independent pharmacies access to systems that larger chains have used for years.
MedsNow gained attention after being selected for Cohort 14 of XRC Labs. The accelerator gave the team access to mentors, retail partners, and business support. The company also appeared at XRC Ventures’ 2023 Demo Day and received support from the XRC Ventures Accelerator Program and Reshape Ventures. This stage of his work has required steady planning, persistence, and the ability to handle pressure while building in a regulated industry.
Before entering healthcare technology, Islam Elfiky was known for his success in squash. He grew up in Cairo, where the sport shaped much of his early life. As a junior, he joined the Egyptian National Team while it held the world’s top ranking. He later reached a personal world men’s ranking of 165th before continuing his academic and athletic career in the United States.
At The George Washington University, he played at the No. 1 position for the men’s squash team and became one of the program’s notable players. In the 2011-12 season, he finished with 21 wins and three losses, earned the program’s Most Valuable Player award, and was named Male Athlete of the Year at the first Georgey Awards. The previous season, he recorded 18 wins and two losses while competing in every match at No. 1. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 2014.
His first business venture came from squash. From 2014 to 2016, he co-founded Squash on Fire, a Washington, D.C., project designed to create a high-end squash facility with broader public access. The facility opened in 2017 and gave him early experience in building a company from an idea into a real operation.
He has also entered hospitality through Yalla Hospitality, where he is building a venture connected to restaurants and guest experience. This work shows his interest in service-driven industries and his ability to apply business development across different fields.
Islam Elfiky remains connected to Egypt through his family’s hospital enterprise, which is recognized for social work and community care. His volunteering and philanthropy are also centered there. With experience in healthcare, athletics, and hospitality, he continues to build ventures shaped by discipline, service, and long-term focus.
