Ismail Zohdy
Ismail Zohdy is currently a Ph.D. student in the transportation systems area, Civil Engineering Department and he is working as a GRA in the Center for Sustainable Mobility at Virginia Tech Transportation Institute. Ismail was elected as a president of Alliance of Transportation Engineering Students at Virginia Tech 2010-2011. Ismail earned his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Ain Shams University, Egypt. He was a Teaching Assistant and Instructor for many transportation related courses in Egypt, in addition to his part time job as a transportation engineer in multiple engineering firms. Ismail earned his Master of Science degree from Civil Engineering Department at Virginia tech. Ismail research area is related to traffic flow theories, modeling human behavior, impact of inclement weather and the application of intelligent systems in transportation. Ismail received (2010) Paul E. Torgersen Graduate Student Research Excellence Award for distinguished Master Research among College of Engineering at Virginia Tech. Also, he won the second prize for the (2010) GSA Research Symposium of Virginia Tech, the (2009) Outstanding Student Paper Competition award for Southern District ITE, Winner of the International Road Federation (IRF) Student Essay Competition, 2010 and Virginia Section ITE (VASITE) Ken Wilkinson Continued Engineering Studies Scholarship, 2010. Upon Graduation, His objective is to become a faculty member to pursue in the academic career. Ismail enjoys in his spare time, outings, outdoor activities and reading.
