Ivory M. Jones
Writer, Editor, and Social Media Manager in New Orleans, Louisiana
Growing up in New Orleans, it was hard for Ivory M. Jones to resist the lure of music. From Dixieland jazz to the booming brass bands, the sounds of the city would lead to a lifelong love affair with music. With an ear glued both to the radio and her father's turntables, her childhood was shaped by the sounds of Luther Vandross, Steely Dan, Sade, Anita Baker, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Michael Franks. In adulthood, she would turn her love of music into her career, picking up the pen for such media outlets as Essence.com, SoulBounce.com, Marriott.com, Billboard Magazine, BET.com, The Ave, Ozone, The Source and Rolling Out Magazine.
While her career would take her from Atlanta to Philadelphia to New York City, the pull of home would eventually lead her back to her N.O. roots. The influence of her travels can still be found on her iTunes playlist, however, where she often finds herself grooving to artists like Bilal, The Internet, The Foreign Exchange, Hiatus Kaiyote, Outkast, Jill Scott, Incognito, KING, Omar, The Lumineers, Lenny Kravitz, Tortured Soul and many more.
