Ivy Nyayieka

Okasungora is my construction site. Ivy Nyayieka’s writing out there attempts to look like a beautiful glass house, but here we love it even on the days it looks and feels unbeautiful. We have found that unbeautiful births the most beautiful.

I come here, and I map my lostness, and it makes me happy, and then I leave, and I am unhappy. And when I return here, my gods seat, wait, wonder when I plan to come and never leave. Shh… I left my toothbrush and underwear; that’s a start. It scares me, but I am teaching myself to do the things that scare me. I did not teach me when I was younger, and doing the things that scare you is one of those things you have to teach you.
