I became fascinated with photography early on in life and I was highly influenced by my father, Dave Hanson who was a graphic designer for Oxfam and an avid camera hobbyist. Even as a child I appreciated the camera as a tool for documenting Life. I have always been creative and ambitious which led to my successful career as account manager and make-up artist for the prestigious French cosmetics company Lancôme. My decision to change my course in life and career came in 2008 when my father lost his fight with cancer after a five-year battle. My growing interest and passion for photography drove me to further utilize my creative abilities so I decided to return to formal studies where I took up a diploma course at Cornwall College in 2009. By then I yearned to learn more about the captivating world of photography and I went on to complete a two-year foundation degree in photography, resulting in a distinction. I am currently nearing the end of my BA (Hons) top up year at Plymouth College of Art. Alongside my studies my wedding photography work allows me to produce creative yet modern imagery which captures special moments, which I love! However, my real passion lies in raising awareness for important causes. Key to my development is an aspiration to build upon my technical skills and visual language. Most recently I have focused predominantly on socially relevant topics and community based projects, including organ donation, mental health. refugees and asylum seekers.
