Ever since I was a toddler a significant part of my life was engulfed by music. It started with my father playing the bass guitar and blossomed into me learning how to play piano and obtaining classical vocal training. I remember the first time he played the bass for me.

I walked into his practice room and was intrigued by the sounds I heard. It evoked feelings of happiness and I could not understand why. Once my Dad noticed my presence, he placed my hand on his amp. Instantaneously, I felt the vibrations of the music and it electrified my soul. I did not fully understand what it was but I knew it was something I wanted to do.

So, when I turned ten years old I started taking piano lessons. At first, I hated it because I did not understand the logistics of music. the time signatures, key signatures, chord progressions- basically everything, did not make sense to me yet I persisted. To my surprise, after coming to terms with the systemization of music, I started to fall in love with the very thing I once despised. The theory behind the music is so elegantly executed and is what I live for. While others listen to music because it "sounds good", I listen for the release of tension caused by the leading tone of a chord". I learned to appreciate the small meticulous segments of music and I incorporate the same mentality into my lifestyle. It led to my mantra "appreciate the small things", becoming a way of life.
