140 or less: Former bench scientist, now health IT entrepreneur trying to improve treatment outcomes for those living with behavioral illnesses.

BIO:

Since 2011, I have been working in the CEO role of a company called RxApps. Our system aims to improve health outcomes by incorporating the patient experience of treatment into the provision of care. Studies have repeatedly shown that an individual's mental state, and the extent of their understanding of symptomatology can dramatically affect whether or not a treatment plan is successful. We use text message prompts to track these metrics, and relay the information in an easily-digestible format to care providers (physicians, RNs, LCSWs, etc). This way the entire continuum of care can appreciate the impact that treatment is having on a patient, and can make adjustments accordingly.

I made the transition to entrepreneuship after 1.5 years of molecular biology work at Massachusetts General Hospital and 9 months at Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research. After my work at NIBR – where I helped to identify new antibody-drug conjugate targets for breast and ovarian cancer in a joint project with the Broad Institute – I took on internships with the Partners Healthcare Research Ventures and Licensing practice, Mass Medical Angels, and Sentien Biotechnologies. Each of these roles provided me with a different insight into the life science startup cycle: licensing, development, and funding. It was fantastic preparation for the work I do now, and am immensely grateful to all who have helped me on my journey so far.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions, suggestions, or partnership opportunities. I am interested in hearing what you have to say!
