Professionally, I take a straightforward approach to design that's not overly-wrought. Modern and clean, but approachable; and with lots of heart and personality. Brands that resonate with me for exhibiting those traits include Target and Trader Joe's. When you can connect with your customer through a design, it's pretty powerful. I like making things that people love but aren't quite sure why.
Personally, one of the things I've come to value highly is intention. I try to put as much of it into what I do in all aspects of my life, and I believe that when you do, people notice and are attracted to it like moths to a flame. Sincerity. Integrity. All things that I try to cultivate both in my work and my personal life.
I love learning new things. I view something that I don't already know not as something lacking, but an opportunity to find out.
When I'm not behind a glowing screen, I enjoy reading (currently going through a sci-fi classics phase), try to green my thumb by building self-watering containers to grow tomatoes and herbs on my apartment balcony. I love to cook for myself and my friends, have knitted socks, hats, and a Christmas stocking for my niece. I'm still pretty new to sewing, but have made a few skirts and purses that have held up to use. Anything that occupies both my hands and my head at the same time thrills me. If I have something to show for it in the form of a usable item as a result, all the better.
