My name is Josephine Paez, but for most of my life I've gone by my nickname, Gabie. I am a student at the University of Georgia studying Biology, with the goal of becoming a registered nurse in the pediatric department. Aside from being a student, I am the eldest daughter in a family of four, an avid music listener, and a leader in my Catholic youth community.
Ever since I can remember, I was born and raised by a family who made sure my faith was something I prioritized. So, most of my influence came from my parents who practiced the Catholicism. I was constantly surrounded by peers who experienced the same situation, being brought up by Filipino-Catholic parents who were religious. Since then, I continuously lived by that belief, and eventually, I took on the role as one of the leaders for my Catholic community of many kids and teens, utilizing my voice to renew and strengthen their Christian values.
My years of being a youth leader were definitely a journey, and I had many ups and downs through it all. I was someone who had numerous responsibilities such as planning youth camps and nation-wide conferences, all while balancing my other life as a student who was constantly anxious about her grades. Although there were many moments of struggle, through building this community I've learned so much about myself and the potential I have to be someone that others can look up to. I have been able to share my own experiences and help others restore their spiritual relationships.
Through discovering my love for working with others especially children and youth, my goal of becoming a pediatric nurse is something I hope to accomplish in the next few years.
