Jabu Pinky Khoza
Student in Soweto ,zone 1
This is an original copy of Jabu Khoza. I’m a student teacher at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) who is so in love with life and living organism’s interaction thus, my first major is Life Sciences. Well Physical Sciences is my second lover. Growing up with a single parent made me strong, responsible, independent and an outgoing person who can take any chance to make a situation better. I felt more comfortable around adults than other children because I taught, I was more matured than other kids and yet I made friends at school.
It would be a huge crime omitting that I tutor the second years student at UJ. One can say it is about money, well yes, we all want money but the main motive to tutor while I’m still an undergraduate is to gain experience. Again, it is about learning from my colleagues and learners. Working with diverse students tend to be challenging because I’m bilingual and yet my track record of tutoring those students has been successful and a great journey of life. I influence students not forgetting my Grade 10 and 11 pupils at Ntuthuko Centre Saturday classes. I am more like a driving force for their decisions to keep up with schoolwork and how to pursue their higher education.
If you are afraid of competition, well we are more like water and oil because in 2018 (first year level) I was so competitive, and I conquered by winning a medal of being the top Life Sciences student. In the same year I was one of the top achievers in the Faculty of Education. Such accomplishment gives more courage in working hard on my studies and to help others with the little knowledge I have obtained. My cup is not full yet, I am still learning every single day. Part of me believe that no one is superior over me, I can do whatever I put my mind into, but I pay the prize by persevering.
Growing up from an extended family is so dramatic and yet you learn to be patient with people, not only your siblings but with strangers too. I learned to be respective of the uniqueness I encounter in my community. I love relaxing my mind with music and I get time to reflect on my short and long goals. Lately, I have been an addict of body shaping, so I exercise a lot. It more like self-love because we all need it.
Well, I am glad that you know me now
