Dr. Jacinta Hawkins

Hi, I'm Jacinta. I work with local government, business and not-for-profit organisations in the Pilbara on their marketing communications, market research and business development. I have completed work for the Pilbara Association of Non-Government Organisations (PANGO), Regional Development Australia (RDA) Pilbara, the Small Business Centre West Pilbara (SBCWP) and the Shire of Roebourne. In 2012 I also worked for six months as an Executive Consultant for Creating Communities Australia, a multidisciplinary social planning and community development consultancy.

I have a doctorate in marketing and since 2002 I have worked on a variety of academic and commercial research projects. My doctoral research explored the application of marketing communications theory to facilitate school-based health promotion activities targeted at improving nutrition and increasing physical activity among children. I lectured in marketing, advertising and consumer behaviour for eight years, and I have taught English for speakers of other languages in Japan and New Zealand.

In 2011, my husband Darren and I left our home in Auckland, New Zealand in search of a life adventure in the Pilbara, Western Australia. We moved to Karratha where we lived for 18 months and adopted two SAFE dogs, Kaiser and Kauri. In June 2013 our son Jett was born in South Hedland and we now live in Newman.
