Jack Govic
Flight Instructor and USC Marshall Student in California
Jack Govic is a student at the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business and an FAA certified flight instructor based in California. He is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at USC Marshall (Class of 2029) while teaching new pilots at Van Nuys Airport, a combination that reflects the two things he cares most about: aviation and building a career in business.
Jack began flying in January 2023 out of a general interest in aviation and has since logged more than 1,000 flight hours. His certificates include CFI, CFII, MEI, AGI and IGI, along with a commercial pilot certificate for multi-engine and single-engine land aircraft with an instrument rating, plus tailwheel and complex endorsements. He is currently working toward a commercial rotorcraft rating. Jack is also a licensed insurance agent and a member of the Learn to Fly USC Club.
As an instructor, what Jack enjoys most is sharing his passion for flying with others, and aviation safety is the foundation of every lesson he teaches. He writes and speaks about earning a flight instructor certificate in college, what new pilots should know, balancing school with work, and the lessons from aviation that apply to business. After graduation he plans to build a career that combines finance and aviation. His father, Mario Govic, is the founder of Govic Capital.
Community service has been part of Jack's life since his school years in Atlanta. In February 2022 he led a 20,000-meal packaging event at Pace Academy, covering the costs himself, with the meals going to Hope Atlanta through Hunger Heroes and U.S. Hunger. He currently volunteers with Pilots N Paws and Food Cycle LA. A Dean's List student and track and field medalist who grew up in Florida, Atlanta and Los Angeles, Jack spends his time outside the cockpit and the classroom camping, hiking, scuba diving as an Advanced Open Water diver, and traveling. Disciplined, driven, safety-minded and hardworking, he brings the same focus to the flight line that he brings to his studies.
