Jack DeVoss

Born and Raised in Columbus, Ohio - Jack DeVoss graduated from The American School of Broadcasting and began his radio career in 1993 at WWCD 101.1FM where he started off as a morning show whipping post. After doing a stunt that garnered national media attention where he ice skated to the Ohio Statehouse on the sidewalks of High Street after a winter storm, DeVoss was made the nighttime DJ and show host in 1994. Taking his massive knowledge of all musical things awesome, he was promoted to Music Director / Assistant Program Director and over the 13 years he was on-air, DeVoss helped to define the brand new Alternative Rock Radio format - breaking new rock bands onto the national scene like; Pearl Jam, Blink 182, The Killers, The Strokes, Pete Yorn, Radiohead, Interpol, The White Stripes, and hundreds more. DeVoss was nationally recognized by his industry and named the 4th best Alternative Radio Programmer in the entire United States in 2006, only placing behind programmers in New York , Los Angeles , and Chicago . In 1999, while also still at WWCD, DeVoss became the Director of University Radio and an adjunct Professor at Capital University and founded their student radio station. He has also written music reviews for magazines and the blogosphere. DeVoss has also written several novels, although he has yet to publish them. In 2006, DeVoss retired from on-air radio and devoted himself fully into education. DeVoss became the first Education Director at the Ohio Center for Broadcasting’s Columbus campus in March of 2008. He left OCB in May 2010 to become a writer full time. In 2011, Jack and his family moved to Cork, Ireland for his wife's job on a two year work assignment. Jack now spends his time raising his daughters, blogging and working on a novel
