I've worked as a Network Administrator, Programmer, System Analyst, Technology Consultant, and Software Trainer over the past 15 years. I'm good at it and I put my all into doing it. But generally I also try and bring others into it too.
Explaining benefits and limitations to software is easier to do when everyone is on the same page. While not everyone wants to know why and how something works. I think basic computer literacy is everyone's responsibility and companies perform better when staf requests are realistic.
Besides, technology doesn't always produce clearly defined deliverables, lot of it is maintenance and provisioning. I've had to convince a lot of people I've worked with they've actually saved themselves money or helped the company do business better in the long run by knowing the software and devices they use everyday.
While I could list certifications and projects, that's what a resume is for. Professionally, it's the social aspects I've always brought to the table. I keep things running, protect people from themselves, and educate them so they can be more empowered in their own jobs. With so many IT professionals that don't inspire trust or tolerance for those they work with, it's something I do with pride that I feel seets me apart.
