Jackie Martin-Klement

Jackie Martin-Klement is a full-time, tenured faculty member in the Business Administration Department at Palomar College, where she teaches business writing and a variety of office information courses. She advises the Business Department Office Information Systems program. She also acts as an executive officer with the Palomar Faculty Federation and has held the position of Treasurer for three consecutive terms. Possessing more than 25 years of teaching and consulting experience, Jackie Martin-Klement has introduced several new courses at Palomar College. Martin-Klement is a Microsoft Office User Specialist and has vocational teaching credentials in several specialties, including office technologies, word processing, and clerical occupations. In her time at Palomar College, she has utilized this training to introduce classes in personal publishing, website design, and various Microsoft programs. Furthermore, Jackie Martin-Klement instituted a nine-unit Software Applications Specialist Certificate program. During her 17 years at the college, she has taught a broad array of subjects, ranging from QuickBooks and computer literary for Spanish speakers to electronic portfolio and career development classes. She previously served as a full-time teacher in the ROP Computer Applications program at Palomar before transitioning to her current position in the Business Administration Department in fall 2011. Throughout the course of her career, Jackie Martin-Klement has utilized her knowledge of computer applications to perform on-site professional training. In 2006, she initiated a partnership with the City of San Marcos, California, to provide employees with vital software and computer skills needed in the business world. Prior to joining the Palomar College faculty, Jackie Martin-Klement held teaching positions at several high schools in California, employing her bilingual capabilities to reach the greatest number of students. While maintaining a full teaching schedule, Martin-Klement instructed evening courses for adults and procured funding for a computer lab at Ramona High School. She also spearheaded the expansion of career development programs and integrated learning communities, which combine classroom learning with various computer applications. Jackie Martin-Klement prepared for her career in academia at Bowling Green State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interpersonal and Public Communications and a Master of Arts in Spanish Literature.
