Jacqueline McManus
Being a junior in the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst is no walk in the park, let me tell you. However, hard work pays off. I am diligent in all that I do and am extremely driven to succeed in the field of finance. Crunching numbers is something I actually enjoy. Crazy, right? Business has been in my sights for sometime now. I was exposed to many different types of business classes throughout high school, but senior year was when I fell in love...with Finance. I am hoping to secure a position with an organization that provides the opportunity to learn, grow, and develop a career in Finance.
Less about school, more about me. Even though I am passionate about business, specifically finance, I am also passionate about things outside of school. I played lacrosse for seven years and took a lot from the game. Playing lacrosse taught me the importance and value of teamwork, perseverance and good sportsmanship, all of which will guide me through the big, bad business world.
My passion is the concept of paying it forward. Although hollywood glorified this concept by making it into a renowned movie, I still believe its true. Doing one good deed for a stranger and having them essentially "pay it forward" could touch millions. Even something as simple as being respectful to one another will inspire others to do the same. With all the hatred and sorrow out there, people need to know that there are still good people in the world because believe me, there are.
I believe that creating and maintaing healthy, strong relationships with others is what sets the foundation for a happy, more successful life. Being from Waltham, a city just outside of Boston, I am exposed to many different ethnic groups, constantly learning new ways of life. This diverse community I have grown up in helps me to happily accept all different kinds of people.
My favorite part about living in Waltham is its location relative to Boston. Being fifteen minutes from the city is both fun and convenient. It's incredible to see the residents of Boston come together in times of need and comfort those affected by tragedy. Having great, successful sports teams with supportive fans doesn't hurt the cause either. "I love that dirty water, Boston you're my home."
Please, take one minute, even one second to PAY IT FORWARD!
